Brenda Guizar, 2023 graduate of Compton YouthBuild, not only has exceled academically, but has also given back to her community through art.

Brenda Guizar graduated from Compton YouthBuild in 2023. Since then, she has since served as an AmeriCorps Vista summer intern at Compton YouthBuild, furthering her dedication to uplifting young people. She is now continuing her educational journey at Compton College, driven by her innate leadership abilities and clear vision for her future.

A true trailblazer, Brenda actively participated in the Youth Policy Council and demonstrated her commitment to community service by volunteering both at the Compton YouthBuild site and within the broader community. Even after completing her credits ahead of schedule, she continued to engage as an active volunteer.

Not only did she excel academically, but she also showcased her artistic talents by creating a beautiful mural that enriches the neighborhood across the street from the program space. Brenda’s passion for art and her desire to unite people through her talents inspire those around her.

“I always believed college was in my future, but here I didn’t have to go through the process alone. I had help every step of the way! At Compton YouthBuild, I received opportunities to do things I never thought I was capable of doing,” said Brenda.
