John Valverde Named “Power 50” Honoree by Boston Business Journal

YouthBuild USA President and CEO John Valverde

YouthBuild USA president and CEO is recognized as
a top business leader in the Boston region

John Valverde, president and CEO of YouthBuild USA, has been named a 2022 Power 50: Movement Maker by the Boston Business Journal (BBJ).

The Power 50 Awards are an annual list of Boston-area businesspeople who are making the biggest impact on the region.

“Altruism and a drive toward a more diverse and inclusive region are again central to the Business Journal’s Power 50 list,” writes the BBJ’s Grant Welker. “They’re as likely to be people who’ve started small companies that are making an outsized difference in their communities as they are to be executives at larger companies or CEOs.”

Honorees include leaders in education, financial services, medicine, real estate, philanthropy, technology, tourism, and more.

As the first previously incarcerated person to lead a nonprofit with a global mission, John Valverde leads the effort to champion opportunity youth — young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither in school nor employed — as they earn the knowledge, training and opportunities that lead to long-term professional and personal success.

The strength John found in himself as a young man is within every single young person, and it’s his life’s work to unleash that power through support, educational advancement, training, love and belonging. John’s story makes a difference in the lives of YouthBuild students around the world.

We congratulate our incredible president and CEO on this well-deserved recognition!
