Burlington Stores Raises More Than $1.6 Million for YouthBuild Global in Fourth Year of Partnership

National discount retailer’s annual community giving helps strengthen programming in local YouthBuild programs across the country

Burlington Stores, one of the fastest growing national off-price retailers, has raised more than $1.6 million during its fourth annual in-store fundraising campaign benefitting YouthBuild Global and its expansive network of programs. Since 2023, the retailers’ four campaigns have now raised over $5.7 million to benefit YouthBuild.

In YouthBuild programs, opportunity youth — young people who are out of school and out of work — reclaim their education, gain job skills and credentials, and become leaders in their communities, building brighter futures for themselves and their neighborhoods. YouthBuild Global is the headquarters for the YouthBuild movement, unifying and partnering with a network of more than 340 YouthBuild programs around the world.

Running from April 6 through May 11, the campaign invited customers at more than 1,200 Burlington stores nationwide to round up their purchase at checkout or make a direct donation. The funds raised will continue to advance YouthBuild Global’s efforts to strengthen local programs, expand career pathways, and invest in education and workforce training that leads to lifelong learning, leadership and family-sustaining careers.

“Burlington’s commitment to young people continues to grow, and so does its impact,” said John Valverde, president and CEO of YouthBuild Global. “This milestone reflects the generosity of Burlington’s associates and customers, and their belief in what opportunity youth can accomplish when they have the right support. Together, we are building brighter futures and stronger communities.”

YouthBuild programs across the country have used resources generated through previous Burlington partnership campaigns to deliver meaningful impact:

Georgia Building Trades Academy (GABTA) YouthBuild – Atlanta, Georgia: Provided specialized construction training tools, materials and essential support. With the rising cost of materials, funding helped bridge the gap and ensured students received hands-on experience with industry-recommended tools used in construction trades apprenticeships.

Mile High Youth Corps YouthBuild – Denver, Colorado: Strengthened participant engagement and completion through transportation support, incentives and leadership development experiences. These investments contributed to a 96% attendance rate, a 95% retention rate and full completion of the Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT) Construction Bootcamp among participating students.

YouthBuild Boston – Boston, Massachusetts: Upgraded digital learning capacity by equipping students and instructors with new laptops, software and 3D printing tools. Students applied these resources to design and build a full-scale outdoor pavilion, including a 3D-printed wind sculpture, gaining hands-on experience in prototyping and construction.
